Donald M. Nelson, Sr.
(May 20, 1934 - May 27, 2013)


Mr. Donald Marion Nelson, Sr., 79 of Huntington, WV husband of Margaret Bledsoe Nelson, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 31, 2013, at Woodmere Memorial Park, Abbey of Remembrance, with Rev. Darrell Buttram and Rev. Owen Lee Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. He was born May 20, 1934 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Marion and Mary Kennedy Nelson. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Jeanette (Netty) Nelson and a son Donald M. Nelson, Jr. He was a former Chef at Bailey’s Restaurant, a Meat Cutter with Mansours Market, a member of American Legion Post #93 Honor Guard, whose members will conduct Graveside Military Rites, member of VFW Post 1064, retired US Army with 34 years of service, 10th Avenue Church of God and the choir at Underwood Senior Citizens Center. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Carl Runyon of Proctorville, OH, Jennifer and Jim Viglianco of New Orleans, LA, Joselyn and Walter Hansbarger of Virginia Beach, VA; 2 sons, Ricky Allen Nelson of West Hamlin, WV and Henry J. Warth, of Beckley, WV; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary from 6 pm until 8 pm Thursday, May 30, 2013.
