Sarah J. (Mexi) Gilbert
(July 7, 1926 - May 5, 2013)



Sarah J. “Mexi” Gilbert, 86, of Huntington, WV, died Sunday May 5, 2013 at Heritage Center. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday May 9, 2013 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with Minister Dearl Hutchison officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Sarah was born July 7, 1926 a daughter of the late King Solom & Laura Mabel (Cogar) McNeely. She was retired from the former Owens-Illinois Glass Co. A member of the V.F.W. Post 9738 Ladies Auxiliary and the Go Getters. She was preceded in death by one grandson, James D. McCoy and one daughter, Linda Ilene Fletcher. Survivors include one daughter; Carolyn S. McCoy of Huntington, one sister, Nancy Ramona Gentry of Atlanta, GA, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Streets & husband Jamie, Renee McCoy, Lindsey Hodges, Marlies & Shane Fletcher all of Huntington, 7 great-grandchildren, Alissa, Kelin, Rachael & Jessica Fraley, Katherine & Michael Hedrick and John McCoy, one great great-grandson, Connor Robinson, three special friends, Garnetta (Hot Rod) Chadwick, Delores Moore & Joann Booth. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday May 8, 2013. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
