Charles Wesley Lowther
(September 14, 1923 - May 14, 2013)


Charles Wesley Lowther, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed away, Tuesday May 14, 2013 in Broadmore Assisted Living, Hurricane, WV. Charles was born September 14, 1923 in Tango, WV, a son of the late John C. & Susan Mason Lowther. He was a combat veteran of WWII, Korean and Vietnam Wars. He enlisted in the Navy at 17 years of age in 1941, enlisted in the Army in 1950 and retired from the Army in 1968 as Chief Warrant Officer W3. He was decorated with the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Bronze Star Medal. He was a Mason and enjoyed playing golf. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorraine Isobel (Jeffers) Lowther. The family would like to invite all to a public visitation at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, White Chapel Mausoleum, in Barboursville, WV at 11:00 AM Saturday May 18, 2013. The memorial service will begin at 11:30 AM with Pastor Chuck Case officiating, followed by Military Funeral Honors conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. Entombment will follow. In lieu of flowers family asks for donations to be made in Charles Lowther’s honor to: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 135 West Muhammad Ali Blvd. Suite B, Louisville, KY 40202.
