Marie Earnestine Wright
(January 2, 1924 - May 15, 2013)


Marie Earnestine Wright, 89, of Durham, NC, formerly of Huntington, WV, widow of Joseph R. Wright, Jr., passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Durham. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Woodmere Memorial Park, with Rev. William Haynes, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow. She was born January 2, 1924, in Letart WV, a daughter of the late Donnie and Inez Ball Cunningham. Three brothers, Charles, Harold and Paul Cunningham, and a nephew, Bill Cunningham also preceded her in death. She retired as an office associate with Staats McIntosh Insurance Company, was a member of Beverly Hills United Methodist Church where she volunteered her time for many years assisting in the office, and was a member of the John Wesley Sunday School Class. She was active with Insurance women of Huntington, and a member of the O.E.S. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Jo Wright Richmond and David Richmond of Durham, NC; two grandchildren, Lydia and Jonathan Richmond also of Durham; and a sister, Lydia Cunningham Rainey of Point Pleasant, WV. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Beverly Hills United Methodist Church or the NC chapter of Alzheimer’s association.
