Obituary



Jo Ann Akers, 88, of Chesapeake, OH, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. She was born January 13, 1929 in Hamlin, WV a daughter of the late Jay and Weltha Egnor Holley. A nephew, Jeff Holley, also preceded her in death. She was a former employee of Beneficial Finance. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Steve Bragg of Barboursville, WV; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Cheryl Akers of Chesapeake, OH and Kirk and Terri Akers of Mooresville, NC; a brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Candy Holley of Proctorville, OH; eight grandchildren, Kelly Bragg, Stephanie Mooney (Chad), Holly Bragg (Sarah), Evan Akers (Andrea), Mindi Akers (Matt), Ryan Akers (Patience), Ashton Akers (Kevin), and Micayla Akers; seven great grandchildren, Mikey, Riley, Sydney, Eva, Jade, Bentley, and Miya; a special niece, Amy and her husband, Mike; a special great nephew, Jay Michael; and her special Yorkie companion, Max. The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland of Riverview and Hospice of Huntington for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Huntington or the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Phil Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
