Obituary



Roman Price Williamson, Sr., of Huntington, WV, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 19, 2017. He was the son of the late Price Williamson and Queen Parker. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Price Williamson, Jr., and his son Jerone Williamson. Roman graduated from Douglass High School and served in the U. S. Army from 1953 to 1957, and was honorably discharged. Returning to Huntington, he went to work at the CandO Hospital where he worked as an operating room technician until he went to work at INCO as a scrap iron operator until he retired in 1992. He played football while at Douglass High and when he went into the Army. He attended Marshall University and earned his Regents Degree in Business. Roman and friends were the founders of the Douglass Youth Football League. He loved watching sports and after retirement, traveling with friends. Before he became seriously ill, he loved working word puzzles, coloring and working with computers. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Jane Peters Williamson; his son, Roman Williamson, Jr., (Tanya) of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Diana Lynn (Chester) Newton of Muskogee, OK; son Tyrone Williamson of Akron, OH; one sister, Barbara Jean Speaks of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Kiana Keel, LaTina Price, Allena Price-Portis, Kali Williamson, Leah Kellum (Nicholas), his special grandson, Tyrone J. Williamson; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special friends, April Ziegler, Renee Knaff and Patricia Austin. Mr. Williamson was an active member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Friday November 24, 2017, with Fr. Chuck McGinnis officiating. Visitation and the Rosary will be held one hour prior to service time Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Chapman's Mortuary is assisting the family.
