Obituary



Charles R. Cupp, 88, of Lesage, WV, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. He was born May 12, 1929, in Huntington a son of the late Roy Cupp and Glenna Smith Cupp Crenshaw. A son, Michael Cupp; his step father, Harold Crenshaw; a brother, Bill Cupp; and a half-sister, Joan Stevenson, also preceded him in death. He worked in the laboratory at INCO for 22 years; was the owner and operator of Foodking Grocery Store in Lesage; and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He was a graduate of Huntington East High School Class of 1948, whose members still meet for lunch once a month. He was a member of Olive Missionary Baptist Church and Gideons International, for over 30 years. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and was a member of the Riviera Golf Club. Survivors include: his wife, Doris M. Adkins Cupp; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Nick Ghantous of Cincinnati, OH; a granddaughter, Jamie; three great grandchildren; a half-sister, Nan Sadler; three brothers-in-law, Bert Stevenson of Maryland, Robert (Barbara) Adkins of Alabama, and Ralph (Leta) Price of Gallipolis, OH; and caregivers, Violet Watson and Karen Radcliff. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Mary's Medical Center, St. Mary's Home Health, Amedisys Home Health, and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Donations may be made to the Hospice House at 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, November 13, 2017, at Olive Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Gordon L. Rutherford officiating. Burial will be in Herrenkohl Cemetery, Lesage, WV, with military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 pm Monday at the church.
