Mildred Juanita Davis Samons, 95, of Huntington, WV, widow of Darlyn David Samons, wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017, at her daughter's residence. She was born January 18, 1922 in Wheelwright, Floyd County, Kentucky a daughter of the late Rev. William Lee Davis and Martha Elizabeth Salmons Davis. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings. She was an administrative clerk for Inland Steel Coal Company and was a member of Thomas Memorial Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a very long-standing Sunday School Teacher in the Junior High and High School Classes and led the church in many activities, including church plays. Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Crit Rawlings of Midway, KY and Vicki and Charles Hanshaw of Huntington; five grandchildren, Allyson Rawling of Los Angeles, CA, Anne and Michael Beaumont of Franklin, TN, Caroline and Jason Becker of Easton, CT, Martha and Nick Napalo of Pickerington, OH, and Katherine and Dennis Hill of Huntington; seven great grandchildren, Ryan, Lily, Alex, Waylon, Victoria, Davis and Jaxon; two sisters, Emmalena Adams of Tampa, FL and Sue Moore of Clearwater, FL; and two brothers, Teddy Davis of Atlanta, GA and Harold and Joyce Davis of Mansfield, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Greg Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
