Obituary


Barbara Jean Effingham, 72, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at home. She was born December 11, 1944, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Howard and Carrie Foster Turley. Three sisters, Dorothy Braneovich, Wanda Davisworth and Betty Steed, brother, Robert Turley and husband Dennis Effingham also preceded her in death. She worked as a secretary for the US Army Corps of Engineers, and attended Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son and daughter, Joe and Christa Effingham both of Huntington; 5 grandchildren, Kama, Jamie, Matthew, Tess and Skylar; two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Christian; 2 sisters, Loretta Williams (Bobby) of Lesage, WV, Lois Turley Jeffrey of Huntington; three brothers, Dewey Turley of Atlanta, GA, Gary Turley of Madison, WV and Curt Turley of Columbus, OH. Friends and family will gather from 3 to 5 pm Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary.
