Obituary


Clarice June Halley Bright, 91, of Ashland, KY, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017, in Kingsbrook Lifecare Center, Ashland. June was born February 21, 1926 in Reedy, WV a daughter of the late Charles W. and Una Pearson Scragg. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, John H. Halley; her second husband, Burgeous Sherley Bright; a daughter, Sue Chaffin; five sisters; and three brothers. She was a member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church and Guyandotte Chapter #89 OES, where she was Past Worthy Matron and Grand organist for the state. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, John H. Halley, Jr. and Kathy Halley of Sumter, SC and David J. and Mona Rae Halley of Huntington; a son-in-law, Tom Chaffin of Ashland; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Charles W. Scragg, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL and John L. and Elizabeth Scragg of Trinity, NC; a sister-in-law, Helen Scragg of Charleston, WV; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted noon Monday, November 20, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Donna Hinkle officiating. Members of Guyandotte Chapter #89 will conduct services at 11:55 am Monday. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to noon Monday at the funeral home.
