Obituary



Rebecca Mae Ray Edwards, 89, daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha Newman Ray, died September 19, 2017 in Pawleys Island, SC. She was born June 20, 1928. She was also preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, David H. Edwards, in February 1995. Rebecca is survived by her two daughters, Sherry L. Edwards of Boston, Massachusetts and Terry E. (David) Fattaleh of Pawleys Island, SC; her grandchildren: Frances Rebecca (Alan) Scher of Pittsburgh, PA, Mary Grace (Dana) Watts of Huntington, David Theodore (Camille) Fattaleh of Huntington, Ryann McQuilton and Halle Edwards McQuilton of Los Angeles, California; and her great grandchildren: Nathan Edwards Scher, George Westley Scher, Gabriel Keith Watts, and Le'on Salim Fattaleh. She was the Director (1967) of "Head Start" the Federally Funded Child and Family Development Program for Cabell, Lincoln, Wayne and, Mason Counties. Rebecca was an active member of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs, serving one term as President for the Westmoreland Club and three terms as President for the Beverly Hills Woman's Club. Friends and Family may visit on Saturday, September 23rd, from 11:00AM to 12:30PM at Chapman's Mortuary, 2851 3rd Avenue, Huntington, WV.
