Obituary

Darwin Orrie McCunn, 63, of Huntington, husband of Margaret Brendlinger McCunn, died Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1953 in Indiana, PA, a son of the late Paul James McCunn, Sr. and Ruth Ardelle Stewart McCunn. Darwin was a 1971 graduate of Marion Center High School; a 1975 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Chemistry; and was the laboratory manager for the Chemistry Department at Marshall University. Darwin and Margaret attended New Baptist Church. He loved to restore cars, travel, and spend time with his family and grandkids. He was a jack of all trades but master of none, and would always stop to help others in need. A lover of good puns, he would often tell a chemistry joke, but got no reaction. In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Nathan Hensley of Fort Wayne, IN; Laura McCunn-Jordan and Daniel Jordan of Huntington; and Bethany McCunn and Richard Grossman of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren, Grace and Lillian Hensley of Fort Wayne, IN, and Lydia and Silas Jordan of Huntington; two grandcats, Sierra and Franklin; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and James Craig of Indiana, PA; and a brother and sister-in-law, Paul James McCunn, Jr, and Barbara McCunn of Indiana, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be conducted 10:00 am Monday, September 25, 2017 at New Baptist Church with Pastor Trent Eastman officiating. Visitation will be 2:30-4:30 pm Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary.
