Obituary

Billy Gene Adams
(August 24, 1930 - June 3, 2014)



BILLY GENE ADAMS, 83, of Ona, formerly of Huntington,
WV, died June 3, 2014 in St. Mary's Medical Center after a prolonged illness. Mr. Adams was born August 24, 1930 in Pike County Ky. the son of the late Elsie Williams Adams and Erwin Adams. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steven J. Adams who died in 1958, and by three brothers, Erwin M. Adams, Edward Lee Adams, and Bobby B. Adams. Mr. Adams graduated from Huntington East High School in1950. He was an Army Air Force veteran and continued his service to his country as a member of the Marine Corp. Reserves until 1955. In 1950 he married the former Willa Jean Franklin. They were married for 58 years and together had four children, Steven J. Adams, (deceased), Dreama Adams Jarrell, Julian Adams both of Barboursville, WV and Brooke Adams Leaberry of Huntington. Mr. Adams was employed with the International Nickel Company, now known as Special Metals, retiring after 30 years of service in 1986. Mr. Adams will be sadly missed by his three surviving children, daughters Dreama Adams Jarrell (husband Steve), Brooke Adams Leaberry (husband Jeffery) and son, Julian Adams; five grandchildren, including Natalie White Plyes and Addison Leaberry of Huntington, Gregory Adams of Barboursville, Gabriel White of Florida and Megan Adams Kinney of Georgia; four great-grandchildren including, Braden White, Bennett White, Emma Plyes, and Benjamin Kinny and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Adams’s children would like to offer their special thanks to Betty Carter for the care and devoted companionship she gave their father during these last ten years of his life. The family would, also, like to thank the staff at Midland Meadows Senior Living and MICU at St. Mary’s Medical Center for the wonderful care and comfort they provided to Mr. Adams and to his family. The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, at Chapman's Mortuary in Huntington, WV with the Rev. Kim Miller, of The Lady of the Well Ministries, officiating. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville will follow the service. Visitation for friends and family will take place at Chapman’s Mortuary two hours before the service between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m.
