Obituary



James Reginald "Jim" Adkins, 77, of Huntington, WV, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018, in Grayson's Assisted Living, Huntington. He was born October 27, 1940 in Logan, WV a son of the late Henry and Eulala Bailey Adkins and was also preceded in death by a precious niece, Sherry Lynne Adkins. Jim graduated from Marshall University with a B.S. in Physics. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force during the ongoing Vietnam War. He served as a radar technician in England and Switzerland. When he was discharged, he returned to his home in Huntington, WV. He worked as a research planner for the State of WV in Environmental Protection Services for 35 years. When he retired, he moved to Huntington to be close to his family. He is survived by his loving sister Margaret R. Adkins; a nephew and his wife, David Markson Adkins and Christina Webb Adkins; and a special grandniece Olivia Carolynne Adkins, all of Scott Depot, WV. Jim loved his family more than anything and he will be sadly missed. A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Stephanie Malcolm officiating and Military Rites by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
