Dr. Paul Ray Durst 62, of Huntington, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born February 3, 1956, in Gallipolis, OH, a son of Hisae "Rose" Durst of Pt. Pleasant, WV, and the late Lewis Paul Durst. He was an assistant professor at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where he won many awards for his teaching, and considered a privilege to mentor medical students. He retired from Pathology Services Group in 2015. God and family were most important to him, but he also showed his love and compassion for everyone he encountered. He was a member of Norway Avenue Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder. Survivors in addition to his mother include; his wife, Carol Lewis Durst of Huntington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Durst of Huntington, and Eric and Jessica Durst of Proctorville, OH; two grandchildren, Sydney and Sawyer Durst; one sister and her spouse, Susan and Joseph Nott of Pt. Pleasant, WV; brother-in-law and wife, David and Katie Lewis of Pomeroy, OH; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 pm Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Chapman's Mortuary, with Pastor Jeff Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Paul R.
