Eleanor Elizabeth Lykins
(August 10, 1922 - January 10, 2014)



Eleanor E. Lykins, 91, of Huntington, passed away Friday January 10, 2014 at Heritage Manor. She was born August 10, 1922 in Roanoke, VA a daughter of the late Louis Randolph and Clara Hickok Adams. Additional family that have preceded her in death are her two husbands, Eugene Seldomridge and Earl D. Lykins; two sisters, Florence Spence and Thelma Ballengee; and a brother, Louis R. Adams, Jr. She was a Christian, a former “Rosie the Riveter” during WW II having manufactured periscope lenses for Submarines, and a cosmetics representative with the former department stores, Bradshaw-Diehl, Anderson Newcomb, and Stone and Thomas. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald E. Seldomridge, Sr. and wife, Emma of Louisa, KY., and Steven V. Seldomridge of Huntington; a sister, Marian Barnaba of Newark, OH.; two brothers, Robert G. Adams of Huntington, and G. David Adams of Phoenix, AZ.; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren; and several step children, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. Graveside memorial services will be conducted 1:30 pm Thursday January 16, 2014 at the White Chapel Mausoleum, White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may visit the family from noon to 1:00 pm Thursday at Chapman’s Mortuary, and a procession will leave at 1:00 pm for the cemetery. A reception will follow for family and friends at the American Legion Post 16 at 6th Ave. and 14th Street. The family requests donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1601 2nd Ave. Charleston, WV 25387 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of her God daughter formerly of Conway, SC., Megan Ammons.
