Obituary

Christopher Bruce Martin quietly passed away at his home on February 13, 2017. Chris was born March 26, 1954 to Dr. Bruce Martin and Eileen Birch Martin, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Kim (Eddie) Paul; brother, Kevin Brent Martin; nephew, Edward Paul; niece, Emily (Kyle) Cox and her children Hayden and Chloe; aunt and uncle Barbara and Charles Hendrick; and Sharon Bailey and Pam Mead, who were a second mother and sister to him respectively. Chris attended Saint Joseph's Grade School and High School. He received his BOR degree from Marshall University. He graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1980 and worked at St. Mary's Medical Center from 1979 until 2004 when he retired due to health problems. He was a member of Saint Stephen's Catholic Church in Ona, WV where he served on the parish council. The family is very thankful for the congregation of the church, who took special care of Chris during his last few months, and would like to offer special thanks to Rita and Kent Stutler for their love and care. Chris will be sorely missed by the many people who loved him. He loved to entertain and was happiest with a houseful of people enjoying themselves. He was always willing to lend a hand to those who needed one. Funeral Services will be held at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Ona, WV on February 24, 2017. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. with funeral mass beginning at 6:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Stephen's.
