Obituary



Kermit Moreland Parker, 97, of Charleston, WV, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017, in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation. He was born December 19, 1919 in Huntington a son of the late Ellen Camp and John and Fannie Parker. His wife, Anne Parker; and two special friends, Kathleen Short and Pat Adkins, also preceded him in death. He was the District Claims Manager for Nationwide Insurance and had formerly worked at INCO. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having earned the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of Morris Memorial United Methodist Church, Charleston; Beni Kedem Temple Shrine, Charleston; Charleston Elk Lodge #202; Charleston Masonic Lodge #153 AF and AM; and American Legion Post 20, Charleston.. Survivors include: two sons, David (Susan) Parker of Lake City, FL and Tom (Carolyn) Parker of Huntington; three grandchildren, Kris Parker of Palm Harbor, FL; and John Carrico and Sarah (Richie) Kalich, all of Lake City, FL; a great grandchild, Andrew Anderson of Lake City; a good neighbor and friend, Julia Dooley; and good friend, Peggy Miller. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, February 24, 2017, at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, with Pastor Pete Davidson officiating and Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 conducting Military Graveside Rites. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm Friday at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
