Obituary



Garnet Pearl McComas, 91, of Huntington, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. She was born November 16, 1925 in Lincoln County, WV a daughter of the late Jesse French and Lizzie Nelson Staley. Her husband, Jewel McComas; a son, Thomas McComas; a granddaughter, Brandy Via; a sister, Hila Booth; and three brothers, Lewis Staley, James Paul Staley, and Ab Staley, also preceded her in death. She was a retired nurse having worked at St. Mary's Hospital and Riverview Hospital, Louisa, KY. Survivors include: three daughters, Jessie Hayes, Cinda Via, and Callie (Robert) Boley, all of Huntington; a son, Rodney McComas of Huntington; two sisters, Cindy Ball of Grove City, OH and Bessie Adkins of Sierra Vista, AZ; 10 grandchildren, Stacy Albers, Stephen McComas, Cassie Via, Carrie Simpkins, Crissie Jones, Aaron McComas, Sean McComas, Mary McComas, James McComas, and Tina McComas; 21 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Minister Kevin McElwain officiating. Burial will be in Willie Frye Cemetery, Ranger, WV. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
