Obituary



Dallas Edward Adkins, 83, of Barboursville, WV, formerly of Huntington, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born September 28, 1935 in Huntington a son of the late Elihue B. and Garnet Ratcliff Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Adkins; two sisters, Rosemary Suen and Doris Jean Headrick; a brother, Elihue B. Adkins, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Kayla Adkins and Tucker Adkins. He was retired from INCO and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include: a daughter, Kim Adkins Fizer of Huntington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Cheryl Adkins of Powell, OH and Keith and Cindy Adkins of Huntington; a sister, Mildred Estep of Proctorville, OH; four grandchildren, Shane Goodall, Caitlin Adkins, Tanner Adkins, and Kristen Adkins; a great grandchild, Zachary Gillette; many special friends including Stella Evans and Carolyn Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Larry Greene officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Huntington, with Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 conducting military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
