Obituary


Leland David Starkey, 89, of Glenwood, WV, husband of Evelyn Marie Hughes Starkey, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019, in Heritage Center. He was born December 8, 1929 in Cabell County, WV, a son of the late Forrest and Beulah Spurlock Starkey. Leland was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter, Kerry DeBoard. He was a member of the former Glenwood United Methodist Church, and was a dye setter at the former Houdaille Industries. In addition to his wife of 69 years, Evelyn, survivors include, three daughters, Linda Jean DeBoard, Pat Brumfield, and Sandra K. Booth and her husband, Michael Booth , all of Glenwood, WV; four grandchildren, Sam DeBoard (Mikyoung), Robert DeBoard (Tracey), Derrick Brumfield (Jennifer), and Brian Booth; seven great grandchildren, Katey, Sammy, Brianna, Abigayle, Benjamin, Dakotah and Landon; and one great, great grandchild, Kodi. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Moore's Chapel, Ashton, WV, with Pastor Charles Langdon officiating. Burial will be in Moore's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 pm Saturday at the church. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
