Obituary



Donald E. Carter, 93, of Huntington, W, also known by many as "Uncle C" died Tuesday January l, 20l9 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be conducted at noon on Saturday, January 5, 2919 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Pastor Dale Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Don was born September 19, 1925 in Lavalette, WV a son of the late Zollie and Mae Thompson Carter. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII, receiving both a Bronze and Silver Star. He retired as foreman from the former B.A.S.F. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Mabel Sanders Carter, three brothers, Charles, Bill and Mennis Carter and a sister, Wilma Saunders. Survivors include his only daughter, Linda Carter Bias and husband Larry, and one grandson, Lee Allen Bias and wife Nikki, all of Huntington. The family would like to thank the caregivers, Ron Bias, Greta Basenback, Terrie Spencer and the staff at Hospice for all their loving care along with inspiration from Margie Copley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites at the mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday January 4, 2019 at Chapman's Mortuary and one hour prior to service on Saturday.
