Obituary



Jacqueline R. "Jackie" Snavely 86, of Huntington, widow of Robert C. "Bob" Snavely, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 in The Woodlands Retirement Community. She was born October 17, 1932, in Clay County, KY, a daughter of the late John and Ellen Rader Root. Her step mother, Mary L. Root who raised her from age two, and two sisters Gloria Faye Root and Norma Baxter Root also preceded her in death. She was a member of Pea Ridge Baptist Church, an excellent homemaker, decorator, seamstress, quilter and enjoyed organizing estate sales for people. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Randy Urian of Huntington, Linda and Jim VanPelt of Riverview, FL, Susan and Art Patterson of Nacogdoches, TX; six grandchildren, Casey Rae Hodges (Markus), Chad Thomas, Conley Thomas, Christopher VanPelt, Jeremy VanPelt and Jeff VanPelt (Stephanie); three great-grandchildren, Shane VanPelt, Taylor VanPelt and Camille Rae Hodges; one sister, Joy Blackburn. Funeral services will be conducted noon Monday, February 4, 2019, at Chapman's Mortuary, with Rev. Greg Creasy and Rev. Dan Londeree officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 to 6:00 Sunday, February 3, 2019, at the funeral home.
