Obituary



James Wesley Smith, 83, of Huntington, widow of Janice Brunson Smith, died Sunday, January 27, 2019 in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born December 31, 1935 in Betsy Lane, KY., a son of the late Delmer and Audrey Bragg Smith. Other family that has preceded him in death were a sister, Opal Richmond; and two brothers, Kenneth Smith and Merle Smith. He was a retired carpenter having worked with the Carpenter's Local 302, and a member of the Huntington Lodge No. 53 AF and AM. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Rod Edwards and Rhonda and Randy Blatt, all of Huntington; three grandchildren, Seth Edwards, Brittany Jones and husband, Tyler Jones, and Alex Blatt and wife, Kearston Blatt; four great grandchildren, Dexter Jones, Noah Jones, Everly Jones, and Kingston Blatt; a sister, Debbie Smith of Florida; and two brothers, Donnie Smith of Huntington, and Edwin Smith of Lexington, KY. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday at Chapman's Mortuary with Rev. Richard Sexton officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16, and Masonic graveside rites conducted by Huntington Lodge No. 53 AFandAM, will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
