Ivan Ray Abshire
(December 11, 1946 - May 16, 2011)


Mr. Ivan Ray Abshire, 64, of Lavalette, WV, husband of Johnetta Reynolds Abshire, passed away Monday May 16, 2011 at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Woodmere Abbey of Rememberance, Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV., with Pastor Chuck Lawrence officiating. He was born December 11, 1946 in Huntington, a son of Marie Brown Abshire of Huntington, and the late Bennie Abshire. He was an inspector with Carlisle-Syntec Co., a U. S. Navy Veteran serving in the Viet Nam era, a member of the “Tin-Can” Sailors and American Legion Post #16, a former little league baseball coach in Proctorville, OH, and a member of Christ Temple Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brandy Renee and Joseph He’Bert, of Garden City, SC, a son and daughter-in-law, Shane Ray and Kristie Abshire of Ashland, KY; grandchildren, Hunter Abshire, Carter Ray Abshire, Kaden Robert He’Bert, Katie Lynn Abshire, Baylee Jo He’Bert, Rebecca Ann Abshire, and Sophia Rose Abshire; his sister, Linda Butcher, of Huntington; brother-in law and sister-in-law, Bob and Kim Reynolds, of Lexington, KY. Military graveside honors will be given. The family will receive friends at Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance, Avondale, Road, Woodmere Memorial Park after 12:00 Noon, Thursday, May 19, 2011.
