Dessie Opal Hanley
(April 15, 1920 - May 22, 2011)


Dessie Opal Hanley, 91, of Huntington, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary with Rev. Carl Lilly officiating. Burial will be in Beale Chapel Cemetery, Apple Grove, WV. She was born April 15, 1920, in Pliny WV, a daughter of the late Emmitt Benjamin and Fannie Connard Allen. Her first husband, George Wylie, her second husband, Clyde P. Hanley, a daughter, Georganna Oberdick, 6 sisters, Nellie Dunn, Lucie Stover, Maggie Williams, Wilma Persinger, Margaret Eckhart, Victoria Good, and 3 brothers Lidle Allen, James Allen and Pete Allen also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters; Fannie and Walter E. Plybon of Huntington, Ruth Tate of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, Montie Allen of Pittsburgh, PA; 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
