Leslie G. Cornell
(April 28, 1919 - May 5, 2011)



Leslie G. Cornell, 92, of Huntington, WV, passed away quietly Thursday May 5, 2011 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday May 9, 2011 at Woodmere Memorial Park’s Abbey of Peace with Minister Alan C. Cole officiating. Burial will follow. Leslie was born April 28, 1919 in Webster Springs, WV, a son of the late Lloyd & Flota Helmick Cornell. He was a U.S. navy veteran serving during WWII; he was a barber for many years at the Prichard Hotel Barber Shop and later retired from the Cabell County Board of Education. He was a member of the 26th St. Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Pauline B. (Harris) Cornell, two brothers, Carl & Lawrence Cornell. Survivors include 2 sons, Kenneth Dale Cornell & Gerald Wayne Cornell, 5 grandchildren, Amy Lynn (Mrs.Rennie) Talbert, Jr., Mark W. Cornell, Chad M. Cornell, Jeana L. (Mrs. Jon) Blatt, and Beth Ann (Mrs. Curtis) Sanders & 9 great-grandchildren, and one brother, M. Percy Cornell of Fairmont, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to 26th St. Church of Christ, 26th St. & 1st Ave. Huntington, WV 25703. Friends may call at the cemetery after 10:30 AM on Monday. Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
