Pauline Ann "Penny" Austin
(March 20, 1920 - May 11, 2011)


Pauline Ann “Penny” Austin, 91, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Wayne Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Wayne, WV., with her two sons by her side. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Dr. W. Greg Terry officiating. Burial will be in Crook Cemetery. Penny was born March 20, 1920 in Mingo County, WV a daughter of the late Phyrus Bingham and Rose Meade. She retired from the former Owens-Illinois Glass Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman B. Austin; three brothers, Charles, Shelton and Herbert Meade; and two sisters, Pat Keene and Bernice “Bunny” McCall. Survivors include two sons, D.L. “Butch” Austin and wife Donna of Chesapeake, OH and Scott Austin & wife Andrea of Huntington, WV; five grandchildren, Terrie Austin, Amy Austin and husband, Pete Mathis, Matt Austin and wife Clara, Travis Austin and wife Kristen and Kasey Austin; seven great-grandchildren, Emma Nichter, Abby Nichter, Braden Austin, Lily Austin, Samantha Mathis, Ella Austin, and Kate Pauline Austin; one sister, Faye Dean of Sandusky, OH, a special niece Rose West of Reno Nevada, and several other nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staffs of the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House and Wayne Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary after 1:00 PM Saturday.
