Obituary


Loyesell C. Duke, 95, of Huntington, WV, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. She was born November 12, 1922 in Huntington a daughter of the late Fred and Flossie Chapman Powers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Charles Alvin Duke and two brothers, Bill Powers and Bob Powers. She was a member of Beverly Hills United Methodist Church and the John Wesley Sunday School Class. She was an avid golfer and she and her husband loved going to Florida and walking on the beach especially at New Smyrna Beach. Survivors include: a daughter, Marsha Duke of Charleston, WV; a son, Patrick Duke of Huntington; a brother, Laundle Powers and his friend Joanne Wallace of Huntington; a sister-in-law, Jan Powers and her grandson, Garrett Knese; nieces, Tammy Minor of Ona, WV and her children, Tyler and Joshua Minor, LeAnne and Ron Smithey of Hawk Point, Missouri and their son, Joshua Smithey and Virginia Kirkwood of Huntington. Graveside services will be conducted at noon Thursday, February 15, 2018, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with Dr. Jerry Wood officiating. Entombment will follow in the Christus Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Beverly Hills United Methodist Church, 2600 Washington Blvd., Huntington, WV 25705. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
