Obituary


Phyllis Marine Flowers, 92, of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at her residence. She was born February 19, 1926 in Henderson, WV a daughter of the late Harry and Thersa Mayes Birchfield. Wife of the late, Ennis Oral Flowers; also preceding her in death, two sisters, Gladys Rainey and Mary Hammonds; son-in-law, Rick Skeens; and a granddaughter-in-law, Johnna Skeens. She was a former employee at Owens-Illinois. She was a member of the First Independent Missionary Baptist Church, Kenova, WV. Survivors include: two daughters, Gloria Flowers Skeens of Huntington and Sharon Flowers Belding of Ona, WV; four grandchildren, Stephen (Rebecca) Skeens of Prichard, WV, Noah Skeens and David (Kimberly) Skeens, all of Huntington and Robert Belding (Carla Chapman), also of Huntington, whom lived with and cared for her the last two years of life; two great grandchildren, Casby Ennis Belding, Ona and Emmalee Skeens, Huntington; a brother, William Bart (Louella) Birchfield of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Deloris Patterson and Cody Lusk. Funeral services will be conducted noon Monday, March 5, 2018, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Scott Byard officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to noon Monday at the funeral home.
