Obituary



Edwin James Rice, 73, of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation. He was born November 30, 1944 in Buffalo, NY a son of the late Leo Arthur and Ethelene Myrtle Richard Rice. He was also preceded in death by a son, Edwin J. Rice, Jr. and a sister. He was a self-employed auto body mechanic. Survivors include: his wife, Melanie Bailey Rice; two daughters and a son-in-law, Permelia and Rodney Fetty of Ona, WV and Tammy Rice of Niagara Falls, NY; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Little Eddie Rice of Buffalo, NY and Joseph Hedrick, Jr. and Kathy Hedrick of Huntington; two brothers, Donald Rice and Richard Rice, both of Buffalo, NY; two sisters, Elaine St. Martin of Walla Walla, WA and Alice Rice of Syracuse, NY; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Janice Hayslip of Jackson, OH; three sisters-in-law, Estulena Viars of Willow Wood, OH, Audrey Owens of Coal Grove, OH, and Tammy Carter of Ashland, KY; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Bailey, Jr., of Jackson, OH; A Native American memorial service will be held at a later date. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
