Obituary

Shirley Faye Mayes
(October 26, 1949 - March 31, 2015)

Shirley Faye Mayes, 65, of Huntington, wife of John Mayes, and mother of Dirk Shoemaker, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 31, 2015, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born October 26, 1949, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Granville and Opal B. Young Shoemaker. One sister and brother-in-law also preceded her in death. She retired as a meat packer/slicer, and attended First Huntington Christian Baptist Church. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, April 4, 2015, in Templeton Cemetery on Barkers Ridge, Cabell County, with Pastor Brandon Dailey officiating. Additional survivors include two grandchildren, Josh Shoemaker and Lux Shoemaker; two sisters and three brothers. Friends may call 30 minutes prior to service time Saturday at the cemetery. Chapman’s Mortuary is assisting the family.
