Obituary

Thomas Paul Chambers, 70, of Huntington, WV, passed away at his home following an extended illness on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Tom was born on March 7, 1947, in Matewan, WV, the first son of the late James E. Chambers and Jerry K. Chambers of Lesage, WV. He was preceded in death by his father; his partner, Pauline Lucas; and his brother, Bill Chambers. Tom loved NASCAR racing, especially Dale, Jr., and enjoyed attending local stock car races and demolition derbies. He liked Mountain Dew, fishing, horses, and replicas of famous racecars. He was, usually, warm and outgoing, a big talker who befriended most of TTA's local bus drivers as he cruised around the city keeping them company and making his rounds. Though presented with more than his fair share of life's challenges, Tom often joked and teased with those whom he encountered on his journey, and found great happiness in his time here. In addition to his mother, he will be missed by his brother Chuck and sister-in-law, Sonia Chambers; his nephew, Bryan, and great nephews, Trey and Nick Chambers; and nieces, Lenna, Elizabeth (and her son, Marcus), Emily, and Ellen Chambers; and a host of other relatives in Matewan and throughout the country. A family memorial service will be held in the future, to be determined.
