Betty Lou Saunders Walker DeCook
(February 26, 1934 - December 25, 2011)



Early on Christmas morning 2011, Betty L. Saunders Walker DeCook received the most precious, priceless gift of all. Betty moved into her mansion to spend eternity with her Savior, Christ Jesus. She has been preparing for this day for many years. Growing up in Huntington, Betty lived many years in Chicago before returning upon retirement. She was born February 26, 1934, to the late Stephen and Fern Davis Saunders. She was preceded in death by Al DeCook and Bill Walker, as well as brothers Kenneth Saunders and Rev. Robert Saunders; sisters, Viola Burcham Hayes, Margaret Callicoat and Carolyn Craft. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Carrera and her husband Robert Carrera and Kathryn Walker; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jeannie Walker and Michael and Cathryn Walker all of Chicago, IL; 8 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Ora Mae White of Proctorville, OH, Anna Sellards of Huntington, and Mary Thompson of Concord, NC; three brothers, William Saunders of Chicago, IL, Gary Saunders of Proctorville, OH, and Stephen Saunders of Simpsonville, SC; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary with Pastor Bob Withers officiating. Burial will follow in White chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday December 28, 2011, and from 9:00 am to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
