James Leo Ferry
(December 2, 1931 - December 13, 2011)



James “Jim” Leo Ferry, 80, of Huntington, died at home on Tuesday December 13, 2011. Jim was a retired insurance agent for State Farm Insurance. He was born in Welch, WV, on December 2, 1931 the son of Leo Ferry and Mabel Sharrett Ferry. Jim served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Marshall University and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was also a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Jim was a former president of the Huntington Host Lions Club and former president of the Huntington Alliance on Mental Illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Leo Ferry II. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Kiser Ferry, a daughter, Lee Ann (Tom) Bennett of Evansville, IN; two sons, John Edward Ferry of Huntington and Scott Randall Ferry of Cross Lanes, WV. Also surviving are seven grandchildren whom he loved very much, Meredith Ferry, Emily Ferry, Danielle Ferry, of Hurricane, WV, Hunter Bennett, Katy Bennett, Allyson Bennett, and Eden Bennett, all of Evansville, IN; and a special friend Keith Saunders. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday December 16, 2011 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Warren officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may visit after 11:00 AM at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Missions Fund, Fellowship Baptist Church, P.O.
