Thurman E. DeVore
(August 26, 1927 - December 13, 2011)



Thurman E. DeVore, 84, of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born August 26, 1927 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Harry C. and Lula A. Moore DeVore. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Gloria Fowler DeVore. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Perdue of Huntington and Debra Lou Punnett and husband Richard of Jacksonville, FL; three grandsons, Dwayne DeVore Perdue and wife Shannon of Huntington, Darren Patrick Perdue and wife Jerra of Huntington, and David DeVore McGinnis of Jacksonville, FL; Five great grandchildren, Chloe, Cross, Jada, J.P. and Jetta, all of Huntington; two brothers-in-law, Oscar Fowler, Jr. and Frank D. Fowler of Huntington; a half brother, Jack E. DeVore of Ona, WV and two half sisters, Mrs. James (Carol) Grove of Ashland, Ky and Mrs. Bruce T. (Sallie) Carter of Culloden, WV; and step mother, Louise DeVore of Ona. He was retired from Allied Signal Inc. after 40 years of service. He served the company in Ironton, Ohio as Chief Chemist before joining the sales organization in 1973. When he retired in 1993, he was Midwest Regional Sales Manager responsible for sales of industrial chemicals in eleven states. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of Norway Avenue Church of Christ. Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2011, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Minister Jeff Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, December 15, 2011, and from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2011, at Chapman's Mortuary.
