Dorothy Jewell Adkins
(February 24, 1929 - January 12, 2011)


Dorothy Jewell Adkins, 81, of South Point, OH, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at River's Bend Nursing Home, South Point, OH. She was born February 24, 1929 in Lincoln County, WV a daughter of the late John M. and Julia Ann Powell Chapman. Her husband, Rev. Harmon Willis Adkins; a sister, Alice Burns; and three brothers, an infant brother, Charles Chapman, and Wendell Chapman also preceded her in death. She was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of God, where she and her husband were visitation pastors for the church. Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Harmon and Joyce Adkins of Anderson, SC and Steven Ray and Sheree Adkins of Warner Robins, GA; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 PM Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Paul Ray Farley and Pastor Greg Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery, Lincoln County, WV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Chapman's Mortuary.
