Peter Valentino Filie, Jr.
(January 18, 1937 - January 15, 2011)



Peter Valentino Filie, Jr., 73, of South Point, Ohio, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2011, in Saint Mary's Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at St. Ann's Catholic Church Chesapeake, Ohio, with Father Charles Moran officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 9738. He was born January 18, 1937, in Elbert, WV a son of the late Peter Filie, Sr., and Filomana Martz Filie. Two brothers, Tommy and Harry Filie also preceded him in death. He was a US Navy veteran, and retired from St. Mary's Medical Center as a bio medical engineer. He was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Janet L. Combs Filie of South Point; two daughters and sons-in-law, Felicia Ann and Bob Van Nostrand and Filomena Marie and Brent Gool, all of Proctorville, Ohio; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter Thomas and Patricia Filie of Rio Grande, Ohio and Michael Anthony Filie of South Point, Ohio; a sister Agnes Filie of Sterling Heights, MI; 5 grandchildren, Mary, Morgan, Megan, Seth and Nicholas; and one great-grandchild, Brennan. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday January 18, 2011 at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
