Nick Semanco
(October 6, 1924 - January 19, 2011)



Nick Semanco, 86, of Huntington, WV, died Wednesday January 19, 2011 in Grayson Assisted Living, Shoals, WV. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday January 23, 2011 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV with Rev. Sheila Workman officiating. Nick was born October 6, 1924 in Elkhorn, WV a son of the late Andrew & Anna Martyzn Semanco. He was retired from the Island Creek Coal Company and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Barrett United Methodist Church of Barrett, WV and served aboard the USS Tripoli. His wife Joy Fay Semanco, and seven brothers and sisters Andrew, Peter, Paul, Stephen, Mike, Julia and Mary, preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters & sons-in-law; Karen & James Nichols of Athalia, OH, Judy & Francis Longaker of Roanoke, VA, one son Mark Semanco of Huntington, one sister Ann Delida of Bluewell, WV, four grandchildren; Caroline & Sarah Eshbaugh both of Huntington, Francis & Nicholas Longaker of Roanoke, two special great-grandchildren; Christopher Teare and Karlee Jeremiah, two special friends Richard Coulter & Holly Bragg both of Huntington. The family would like to thank the staff at Grayson Assisted Living for all their kindness and loving care. Friends may call at the cemetery after 1:00 PM until service time Sunday. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 Lee Street East, Charleston, WV 25301.
