Oscar Junior Wintz
(May 27, 1929 - January 3, 2011)



Oscar Junior Wintz, 81, of Prichard, WV, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1929 in Lesage, Cabell County, WV a son of the late Walter Oscar and Alice Jane Nance Wintz. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Jo Ann Dempsey, Betty Blake, Shirley Bird, and Pearl Cabell; and a granddaughter, Cristal Gibson. He retired after 34 years with the former ACF Industries and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Mount Union Baptist church of Lesage, WV and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his loving family, Margaret and Frank Olmstead of Prichard, WV; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Tammy Wintz of Huntington, Chris and Cheryl Wintz of Gallipolis, OH, and Scott and Shanna Wintz of South Charleston, WV; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Spence of Winchester, VA, Cheryl and Mike Shaw of Lesage, WV and Robin Scarberry of Lesage, WV and her friend, Joe Hodge; a sister, Patty Cremeans of Huntington; five brothers, Jack Wintz, Jim Wintz, Carl Wintz, Bob Wintz, and Earl Wintz all of Lesage, WV; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews, including Mike Cabell. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Madison Park, River's Bend of South Point, OH, and St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Doug Spurlock officiating. Burial will be in Herrenkohl Cemetery, Lesage, WV, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 9738. Friends may call from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday at Chapman's Mortuary.
