Karen Lee Sutton Shugars, 53, of Huntington, wife of Lester Shugars, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at the Highland Cemetery Annex. She was born March 2, 1957, in Dover Delaware, a daughter of the late Lawrence M. and Eliza Elizabeth Severance Smith. Two sisters, Lois Basenback and Brenda Paynter; one brother, Leighton W. Smith; a daughter Nichole Shugars; a son Anthony Ray Sutton and a grandson Leonard Walker also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. Survivors in addition to her husband include: two daughters, Joy Smith of Huntington, and Eliza Sutton of Artesia, NM; two sisters, Elizabeth Lynn Calderon of Waterloo, Ohio, and Lori L. Johnson of Potlatch, Idaho; three brothers, Keith Allan Smith, Russell Anthony Smith and Lawrence Thurman Smith all of Huntington; 9 grandchildren, Yesenia Hernandez, Nicole Smedley, Sabrina Walker, DaMonte' Walker, Julius Walker, Malik Walker, Candee Cochran, Brandon Cochran and Abby Cochran. Friends may call thirty minutes prior to service time Wednesday at the cemetery.
