Obituary



Ray Nelson Jenkins, 81, of Huntington, husband of Jeanette McLaughlin Jenkins, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Chapman's Mortuary, with Minister Kevin McElwain officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Ray was born May 6, 1937, in Glenwood, WV, a son of the late Kernel and Bertha Jenkins. In addition to his parents one son, Mike Jenkins, an infant brother Emory and brothers Bernard, Carroll and Carlton also preceded him in death. He was a farm manager for the Butler Hereford Farm, Gallipolis, OH, and was a member of Sixth Avenue Church of Christ where he was baptized in 2015. Survivors in addition to his wife include; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Scott Sturgeon of Barboursville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Dee Jenkins of Huntington; one sister, Clora Edmunds of Glenwood, WV; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Cleveland Jenkins of Chesapeake, OH, Robert and Anna Mae Jenkins of Patriot, OH, Jimmy and Teresa Jenkins of Glenwood, WV; a brother-in-law, Bill McLaughlin of Huntington; 6 grandchildren, Kalli, Todd (Chanda), Bradley (Liz) Jenkins, Lauren Francis (Fred), Jennifer Sturgeon, and Christopher Jenkins; 8 great-grandchildren, Riley, Casey, Holden, Brigham, Elliot, Rylan, Gunnar and Lawson; special neighbor, Bert Adkins, and a host of other friends. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
