Obituary



Helen W. Chanoine, 87, of Huntington, WV, departed this world Friday April 21, 2017 in St. Mary's Medical Center surrounded by those who loved her. Funeral service will be conducted at noon Tuesday April 25, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Bishop Bryan Mathews and Pastor Michael Samuels officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Helen was born November 10, 1929 in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Oltia and Helen Ross Workman. She was also preceded in death by, her husband, Byron Keith Chanoine, two sisters, Joann Wayman and Betty Katherine Murphy, one brother, Charles Lee "Pete" Workman and two infant brothers. Survivors include two sons, Byron K. Chanoine, Jr. and Roger Simmons and wife Delores all of Huntington, two granddaughters, Marlene Helena Tichnell of Hurricane, WV and Renee Mathews and husband Bishop Bryan Mathews of Milton, WV, four great grandchildren, Levi and Makayla Tichnell and Jordan and Destinee Mathews and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Assistant Pastor Michael Samuels. Through Byron's military service, Helen and he were blessed to experience life together in numerous states and countries including their beloved Italy and Germany. Helen was of a feisty spirit and ahead of the current times of the 60's and 70's as she owned and operated her own business, Workman's Auto Parts. During her retirement, Helen enjoyed traveling, reading, quilting, and many, many days of shopping. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until noon on Tuesday at Chapman's Mortuary.
