Obituary



Stanford C. Swann, 82, of Huntington, WV, died Thursday April 27, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Graveside funeral service will be conducted at noon Tuesday May 2, 2017 at Woodmere Memorial Park with Rev. James Byrd officiating. Burial will follow. Stanford was born March 11, 1935 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Clifford C. and Thelma Gerlach Swann. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, retired from Ensign Electric and a member of the V.F.W. Post 9738. He was also preceded in death by, two sisters, Patricia Meadows and Gwendolyn Little. Survivors include, one daughter, Helena Gayle of Huntington, three sons, David and Daniel Swann also of Huntington and Steven Swann of Proctorville, OH, one sister, Barbara Aylor of Huntington and one brother Larry Swann of North Carolina, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will conduct military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Visitation will be after 11:30 AM Tuesday at the cemetery. Chapman's Mortuary Huntington is assisting the family.
