Obituary



James Maurice Clark, 70, of Huntington, WV, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Friday April 7, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House with his wife and daughter by his side. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday April 14, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with the Rev. Angela Gay Kinkead officiating. Burial will be in Bowen Cemetery. Maurice was born June 12, 1946 in Mason, WV a son of Edna Capehart Clark Elias of Ona, WV and the late Franklin Clark. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War, a member of the Pea Ridge United Methodist Church, Huntington Rotary Club, Huntington Area Developmental Council, Cabell Huntington Coalition for the Homeless, and Western Star Lodge #11 A.F. and A.M. He became President of Huntington Federal Savings and Loan in 1992 and retired in 2016 and was appointed to be Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank. Maurice was an avid animal lover. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Michael J. Elias. Survivors include his wife, Jenny Gensler Clark, two daughters, Jennett "Jenny" Elizabeth Smith of Christiansburg, VA, Lara Ellen Chang and husband Ho-Tae of Plymouth Meeting, PA, four grandchildren, Alyson Grace Smith, Maddox, Eli and Jenny Chang, one sister, Connie Wagner of South Carolina, one brother, Roy Clark of Colorado and his beloved dog, Baby. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House or the Pea Ridge United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Ho-Tae Chang, Jonathan Gensler, Nathan Welch, Tilman Ferguson, Glenn Stotts and Glenn T. Stotts and honorary pallbearer Matt Wagner. "And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever". Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday April 13, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary.
