Obituary



Richard Edward Wippel, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. He was born November 13, 1927 in Huntington a son of the late Joseph E. and Trina Courts Wippel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Wippel; a son, Michael Richard Wippel; a sister, Katherine Wippel; and a brother, Joseph E. Wippel, Jr. He was an electronic technician and was a U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra and Robert Vieira of Firestone, CO; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Sonya Wippel of Texas, Dr. Mark and Anita Wippel of Proctorville, OH, and Bruce and Gay Wippel of Thornton, CO; a sister, Philomena Effingham of Huntington; eleven grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Higgins, Joshua Vieira and his wife Candice-Leigh, Stacey Wippel, Brianna Wippel, Ryan Wippel, Pamela Wippel, Jennifer Ann Humyn, Cristopher Lake and his wife, Gayle, Amy Stallo and her husband Marcus, Stephanie Wippel, and Andrew Wippel and his wife, Savannah; and several great grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Highland Cemetery, Huntington, with Father Paul Yuenger officiating and Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 conducting Military Graveside Rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Road, Huntington, WV 25702.
