Obituary



Lillie Mae Brunty Adkins, 89, of Huntington, wife of Vernon Adkins, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor O.F. Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Lillie was born March 8, 1928, in Lincoln County, WV, a daughter of the late Ollie and Annie Jane Clay Brunty. One son, Don E. Adkins; five sisters, Orpha Scarberry, Georgia Albright, Ona Faye Lutz, Leva Varney and Jewell Dowdy; and two brothers, Jennings and Delbert Brunty, also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and was a member of Charity Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Danny Scarberry of Huntington; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Wendell J. and Linda Lou Adkins, Rodney L. Adkins, Vernon S. and Becky Adkins, Jackey R. and Gladys Adkins, all of Huntington; one brother and his wife, Charles and Ruby Brunty of Ypsilanti, MI; special sister-in-law, Betty Adkins of Lincoln County, WV; eight grandchildren, Wendell J. Adkins, Jr., (Beth), David France (Michelle), Bobby Jo Taylor, Rodney L. Adkins, Jr., Jeremy Zane Scarberry, Vernon A. Adkins (Tabitha), Seth Adkins and Joshua (Stacey) Adkins; and seven great-grandchildren, Justin and Erica Taylor and Tabitha, Bryce, Evan, Lillie and Anna Adkins. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
