Obituary



Jon Edward Irby, 77, of Ona, husband of Margaret Blagg Irby, died Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary with Rev. Donna Hinkle and Pastor Keith Leap officiating. Burial with military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Jon was born March 4, 1940 in Wayne County, WV, a son of the late Elmer and Lona Blankenship Irby. A sister, Betty Gene Graham and a brother, Elmer Irby, Jr., also preceded him in death. Jon was a US Army veteran. He was a former National Program Leader for 4H, a 4 H All-star, member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church, and a member of Steven's Ministry. In addition to his wife, Margaret, survivors include several nieces and nephews. Flowers are appreciated, but if one wishes, memorial contributions may be made to Wayne County, WV, 4-H Leaders Association, Hospice of Huntington, or Community of Grace United Methodist Church in Jon's name. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary.
