James Davis Barbour
(June 13, 1931 - April 15, 2011)


James Davis Barbour, 79, of Milton, WV, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at his residence. He was born June 13, 1931 in Cabell County, WV a son of the late Charles G. Barbour and Lena Faye Bowen Barbour. A brother, Bill Barbour, also preceded him in death. He was a retired Deputy Sheriff for the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean War. Survivors include: his wife, Sandra Rumbaugh Barbour; a daughter, Janet Broce of Florida; a son, Jimmy Barbour of Huntington; two step daughters, Karen Jeannine Dmitriev and her husband, Valerian Dmitriev of Milton and Lu Ann Jarrell and her husband, Bill Jarrell of Huntington; two step sons, Stephen Reaugh Phipps of Huntington and Daniel Gene Phipps and his wife, April Phipps of Holiday, FL; three sisters, Emma Lou McGinnis of Kenova, WV, Evelyn Barbour of Huntington, and Barbara Schmader of Valdosta, GA; a brother, Charles Barbour of Huntington; a sister-in-law, Aldine Barbour of Huntington; six grandchildren, Cara Ann Prince, Randall Prince, Jason Mullens, Christopher Broce, Trevor Phipps, and Tyler Phipps; and eight great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Prince, McKenzie Prince, Brailyn Miller, Brooklyn Prince, Tristen Prince, Jay Prince, Gunner Broce and Charlie Broce. Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2011, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Keith Leap officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Chapman’s Mortuary.
