Sadie Mae Gates
(November 7, 1921 - March 26, 2011)



Sadie Mae Gates, 89, of Chesapeake, OH, died Saturday March 26, 2011 in Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday March 31, 2011 at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington; with Rev. Larry Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Sadie was born November 7, 1921 in Kenova, WV, a daughter of the late George Thomas & Carrie Dempsey Davis. Also preceding her in death was her first husband Harry Thomas Fillinger, her second husband Kenwood E. Gates, a son, Harry Thomas Fillinger, Jr., two brothers Thomas & Earl Davis, and one sister Mary Davis. Survivors include two daughters Mary Fillinger & Susan Tredway both of Chesapeake, OH, one brother Donald Lee Davis of Kenova, WV, a nephew that was like her son Tom Davis of Ashland, KY, a niece that was like her daughter Virginia “Ginger” McMillian of Proctorville, OH, several others nieces & nephews and a special loving companion, her dog “Joy”. Friends may call at Chapman’s Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday March 30, 2011.
